On the anniversary of the West Pier’s opening on the 6th October, celebrations began at sunset with an illumination of the pier and an unveiling of a 150th birthday cake, created by Great British Bake Off contestant and Brighton resident, Kate Henry. Celebrations continue in 2017, with speakers including British Airways i360 architects, BBC Coast presenter Nick Crane and Brighton’s internationally best-selling novelist Peter James.
The 150th anniversary programme pays tribute to the rich history of the West Pier whilst looking forward to its future alongside the visionary design and engineering of the British Airways i360.
