Eugenius Birch was the most prolific pier builder of his generation. To celebrate the bicentenary of his birth in 1818 Dr Kathryn Ferry will share new research about the life and work of the man who designed the West Pier. Kathryn Ferry is a historian specialising in the history and architecture of the seaside. She has published on subjects including the British Seaside Holiday, beach huts and Butlin’s. She is also a regular contributor to TV and radio.
