Paul Farrington has swam in the sea by the Palace Pier nearly everyday since 2009.
As a graphic designer he has always loved printed ephemera, old photographs, letterpress posters and films.
In 2011, he applied for funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to tell the story of Brighton Swimming Club through a rich and colourful archive that had lain forgotten in museum archives, garden sheds and wardrobes. Artifacts included reels of unique 16mm film footage from the 1940s, letterpress posters, scrapbooks, gala programmes, badges, competition adverts, letters, photographs and newspaper cuttings.
With material dated as early as 1860, Paul will bring to life stories of Captain Camp the one legged swimmer, aquatic tea parties and who the bottom scratchers actually were.
Ticket includes complimentary glass of wine.
